About the job

As a First Officer, you are essential in delivering a safe and memorable experience for guests. You will support the Captain in navigation and operations, ensuring the vessel runs efficiently and up to the highest standards. Your key activities include:

• Acting as the Captain’s representative when needed, making critical decisions with confidence;

• Participating actively in meetings, training sessions, and regulatory updates;

• Safeguarding the vessel’s operations, focusing on safety and security for all on board;

• Navigating independently and demonstrating expert handling in all conditions;

• Promoting energy-efficient practices for sustainable operations;

• Verifying that all certifications and licenses onboard are current and compliant;

• Maintaining clear and accurate reports to support smooth day-to-day functioning.

Who are we looking for?

With a minimum of two years’ experience as a First Officer, you’ve built a solid foundation in navigation and possess the expertise needed to handle various conditions with confidence. You are independent, adaptable, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency in everything you do.

What you bring to the role:

• Proven ability to navigate independently in all conditions, ensuring smooth operations at all times;

• Flexibility and resourcefulness, able to adjust to new situations quickly and effectively;

• Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to guide and support the team in any situation;

• Decisiveness and confidence, making critical decisions with authority and clarity;

• A strong passion for learning, with a desire to further develop your skills and obtain additional licenses;

• A natural leader, inspiring and motivating your team to collaborate and achieve together;

• A sense of ownership, taking responsibility and leading by example in all areas of your work;

• Hold essential qualifications, including a Boatmaster license, VHF certification, Radar certification, and Safety Expert (Sachkunde) training;

• Possession of the require licenses for the Rhine (Mainz, km 1000–493) waterways;

• Fluency in both German and English is required, with additional language skills in Dutch, French, or Russian considered advantageous.
